Fight Climate Change with Renew Boston

By the year 2070, we may have 90 days a year with temperatures higher than 90 degrees, according to a new study by Climate Ready Boston. You can beat the heat through affordable preparations around your home. Some actions can be as simple as closing the blinds during the day, and some can have tremendous benefits, such as installing insulation.

If you are interested in learning more, attend a free energy-saving Renew Boston workshop. The first workshop is on Thursday, July 21 at 6:00pm at the Grove Hall Library. Or you can join us for the second workshop on Saturday, July 23 at 10:00am at the Dudley Square Library. The workshops are services of the City of Boston, in partnership with Eversource, National Grid and Mass Save.

More and more Boston residents are making the connections between saving energy, saving money, and protecting their community from the effects of climate change. Homeowners like Miguel Mourino love the results of getting insulation. Miguel, the owner of a single-family home in Hyde Park, reports that since his home was insulated this spring, “It isn’t hot like it was before. I’m so happy!”

Learn ways to make your home more comfortable, enhance your property, and reduce your costs. Renew Boston workshops are open to the public and will cover no-cost Home Energy Assessments, insulation, heating and cooling, Mass Save’s 0% interest loan for energy efficiency home improvements, grants for asbestos removal and qualified wiring upgrades, and information on other energy-saving opportunities. Whether you rent or own, stop by one of these upcoming workshops to hear an informative presentation on ways you can stop wasting energy, start saving money, and help Boston shrink its climate change footprint!

Climate Ready Boston is led by the City of Boston in partnership with the Green Ribbon Commission and with support from the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management. The project team includes Arcadis, HR&A Advisors, Sasaki Associates, and University of Massachusetts Boston.

Renew Boston is a service of the City of Boston and its partners, Eversource and National Grid, to help Boston residents, businesses, and institutions save energy and money, and to create jobs. Call (617) 635-SAVE to schedule a FREE energy assessment for your home.
