Landlords, tenants, and condo owners in 1-4 unit buildings are all welcome to participate in Renew Boston. Renew Boston will help your building become more energy efficient with a no-cost home energy assessment for each unit in your structure. Then, Renew Boston can help coordinate all parties and funding sources to maximize the energy and cost savings available for the entire building.

What are the first steps?
Each resident needs to sign up for a no-cost home energy assessment. When scheduling the assessment, each resident should inform the customer service representative that you are a renter, or a party in a 2- to 4-unit building that is coordinating energy efficiency upgrades. Our representative will then help determine next steps for your situation.
Why is coordination important?
Building science shows us that it is best to perform many energy efficiency upgrades using a whole building approach. At the same time, qualification for financial incentives and rebates are often based on the eligibility of the residents living in the units. Many energy efficiency upgrades need the approval of the property owner or condo association because the improvements involve structural and/or property changes. Coordination is necessary to ensure that work will be able to be completed, and that energy and cost savings will be maximized.
What should we do if one party does not want to participate in the program?
