0% Interest Loan for Qualified Energy Efficiency Improvements
Are you thinking about upgrading your heating or hot water systems with high efficiency models? Maybe you are considering insulation, or even replacing a few windows to make your home more comfortable this winter. Did you know these energy efficiency improvements may qualify for the 0% interest “HEAT Loan Program” sponsored by Mass Save® and your energy efficiency service provider or gas or electric utility?
The HEAT Loan provides customers with the opportunity to apply for a 0% interest loan up to $25,000 (depending on approval by the lender) to assist with the installation of qualified energy efficiency improvements such as:
• Attic, wall, and basement insulation
• High efficiency heating systems
• Central air conditioning/ air source heat pumps
• Ductless mini split heat pumps
• High efficiency domestic hot water systems
• Solar hot water systems
• 7-day digital & Wi Fi thermostats
• ENERGY STAR® qualified replacement windows
To qualify for the loan, you must own a one-to-four-family residence, obtain a no-cost Home Energy Assessment, and plan to install a qualified energy efficiency measure as recommended by the home energy specialist who will come to your home to conduct the assessment. The home energy specialist will provide you with the HEAT Loan Intake Form, direct you to a participating lender, and give you all other applicable documentation.
Even if you are not interested in the HEAT Loan, consider having a no-cost Home Energy Assessment, if you have not done so already. During an approximately 2-hour visit, a home energy specialist will install energy efficiency upgrades, such as efficient light bulbs, a smart power strip, shower and faucet aerators (which help you save water), and a programmable thermostat — at no cost to you! In addition, the home energy specialist will check for other energy efficiency opportunities, such as 75% off insulation, up to $2,000!
